My latest postThis week I'm sharing my monthly update of what's on my Sewing Table for September. I've been on a roll with a fun quilt that's been on my bucket list for a few years. One of the things I'm most proud of about this project is that I've used 90% stash so far to make this quilt! But I'm also feeling itchy to start a new fall-themed project. It's been a fun but busy week here. This weekend was the annual Garden of Quilts event at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, Utah, hosted by Riley Blake Designs. As a local I'm pretty involved most years. This year I gave a trunk show Friday morning. An hour before the event it was pouring rain like I haven't seen in months 😅 which felt pretty stressful. I was pretty sure no one would be there - and I wasn't sure I wanted be there either! 😂 The venue is a big tent, but it would still be a soggy trip in to get there. Fortunately the clouds parted and the sun came out and so did the people. And it was really fun. I also got to enjoy the gardens and the quilts and run into wonderful people before the next rainstorm that evening. Today I went back with my mom and daughter. Once again we had to endure some showers (umbrellas for the win) but we once again the sun came out and we had a lovely time. It is my mom's birthday and it was the perfect way to celebrate with her doing something fun and special. It was also fun to see quilts made by others with my patterns and fabric. (Above left: Prep School Picnic with Mary Catherine fabric made by Michelle Guyman and behind my head is the Little Brick Road quilt made with my Albion collection by Chantelle Bailey.) 😊 Thanks to all who stopped me to say hello! I loved seeing or meeting each of you! And let's not forget the calming, therapeutic properties of getting outside into nature. A magnificent garden is a pretty great place to practice that. If you're feeling weighed down by the world, I highly recommend taking time to be outside. Especially during this golden month of the year. (At least for use northern hemisphere folks.) It doesn't need to be a fancy garden full of quilts - just take a walk, look at the clouds, feel the breeze or change of temperature in the air, and take a deep breath. It's so restorative. (And stop doom-scrolling. 🙃 I'm pointing to myself on this one.)
