Doorbusters and Deals at Missouri Star I'm a little late getting the newsletter out today. Real life was in doing it's best to be extra real today. Spring is in full force in my neighborhood - and it's beautiful. Blossoms and green buds on all of the trees and my first tulip popped up this week. There's still some snow-capped peaks on the mountains and I love the contrast. At the same time all of these blooms are arriving over a month early this year - which feels weird and slightly unsettling - but it is what it is so I'm trying to soak in the fleeting beauty of these delicate blossoms while they're here! Sadly, this is NOT my son's and husband's favorite time of year. Their poor allergies give them so much grief. My youngest is living in North Carolina outside of Charlotte right now - which he loves! - but he is experiencing next level amounts of pollen. Every time I talk to him I can tell just by looking at his eyes that he's battling an onslaught right now. Spring feels like a perfect example of how beauty and discomfort often arrive together: buds and blossoms and hope of summer for some of us, sneezing, watery eyes and misery for others. A reminder that every season brings both joy and challenge, and part of living well is learning to hold space for both. And having compassion for the ones who might be suffering. If you're also dealing with uncomfortable issues of any kind, I'm sending love and encouragement and patience-vibes your way. We all need them. Hoping you can get some quality quilt-y time in this weekend. Don't squander the opportunity to celebrate National Quilting Day! 😉 Thanks again for stopping by. xo, AmyPS If you're opening this email within the first half hour of it being sent (and I thank you!) and you're having trouble accessing the links to my site, it's because a lot of people are trying to do the same thing at the same time. How to Bind a Quilt + Jolly Bar Sale + Patchwork Tote Bag It's been a busy week around here! I was able to attend the H+H Americas trade show in Chicago. Oh my goodness - so much eye candy and inspiration. This is a show for vendors from the Sewing, Quilting and Knitting industries to share their upcoming products and collections for the coming year to shops and consumers. (It's an industry event for vendors only and not open to the public.) I had big plans to write up some of the things I...
Over 25 Quilt + Project Ideas using Precut 5" squares (aka Charm Packs) Hi friends! Thanks so much for checking in! I've got some fun things to share with you this week. First of all, any guesses of what is my favorite invention of the quilting universe in the past 20+ years? I know it's pretty gutsy to make a statement that bold, but I still stand by this opinion. My favorite invention is the creation of pre-cut and pre-coordinated fabric squares. I still remember the first time I...
Americana Quilt Ideas + A New Quilt Along + Ideas for sorting and using your scraps Happy Weekend, everyone! I hope this week's edition finds you as well as possible. I've been making quilts inspired by American folk art, the US Flag and other Americana-inspired motifs since 2001. Quilting has a tradition of commemorating special occasions or historical events with handmade keepsakes. As we approach America's 250th anniversary this year, I've put together a list of ideas for anyone who feels...
