New on the blog this week, it's my monthly check-in of What's on my Sewing Table! Time for my monthly accountability post where I share the latest projects that I'm working on.

This year I've added a couple more points of accountability including what I'm purging or repurposing and my fabric purchases of the month.

I've also thoroughly enjoyed having lots of new international friends to hang out with while I sew (they might not know that we're friends, but we totally are. 😉) with the inspiring life stories from the 2026 Winter Olympics. What am I going to do when they end?!

The USPS just released a Harriet Powers stamp collection, and it sent me down the rabbit hole learning more about the woman behind two of the most remarkable story quilts in American history.

It finally happened! Many of you have heard me whine all winter that I haven't been able to do one of my favorite winter activities this whole season - a winter hike through the snow.

Which I know sounds utterly crazy to some of you. And believe me, I get it. Up until a few years ago it sounded utterly unpleasant and undesirable to me too!

But about 8 years ago, my husband talked me into giving it a try. He helped me collect the right gear (which wasn't fancy - I already had hiking poles - mainly a good set of spikes that go over my hiking boots.) And he helped me know what layers to wear (a hat, gloves and wool socks for sure) - and then I was ready to go.

Those investments were some of the best I've ever made. And frankly you don't need much else because your moving body does a really good job of keeping itself warm.

The benefits of going outside are already well documented. Here are the reasons beyond those that I love hiking in the snow:

• the world feels so clean and calm draped in white
• colder temps = fewer people = beautiful solitude
• the snow is also a sound barrier (and maybe the fewer people too) - it feels so beautifully silent and healing
• my favorite spot has a running creek (aka my favorite sound in the world) compounding the visual and sensory delights 🥰

Honestly, it's almost a holy experience for me. And this week we finally got enough that I could do it. Hallelujah. I loved it so much.

So, there you go, between the Olympics and a snow-hike - lots of happy vibes to be grateful for.
