7 Tips and Tools for Accurate Quilt Block PiecingHow's your accuracy when it comes to piecing complex quilt blocks? Last year I put together a list of 7 Tips and Tools that help improve accuracy when piecing. Here's some tips that might help!
My MOST POPULAR Free Quilting TutorialThis Fast Four-Patch Quilt is the all-time most popular quilt tutorials on my site over the years. It's the perfect quilt for any beginning quilter as well as a fast go-to when you need to make a quick baby gift. It's also a great one for using up precut squares or other leftovers. And because it's so versatile and comes together so fast, it's a great one for charity quilt projects too. Click below for the quilt tutorial. Includes a free printable pattern for this crib-size version. There is also an extended pattern version available with fabric requirements and layout instructions for Throw, Twin, Queen and King-size quilts.
Design Wall OptionsOne of my favorite tools for organization (and wall art) in my sewing room is the Design Wall next to my sewing machine. I use this handy tool for laying out and organizing quilt blocks and getting a "big picture" look at what I'm working on. The blocks stick to the flannel-type fabric with out any adhesive or pins. It's fabulous! Click below to read more about my Quilt Design Wall + links to find or make your own.
Fun Finds on the Web + What's on my mind this week: "Moon Joy"Have you been following the Artemis II Mission over the last couple of weeks? I love how this mission and these astronauts have captured the imagination and inspired so many. I even found a few fun moon-inspired quilting projects this week! Kristy Lea is famous for her foundation paper piecing patterns. Inspired by the Artemis mission and her "inner space nerd" (I loved the feelings she shared on Instagram) she created this free Moon Joy FPP mini quilt pattern. Jen from Snapdragon Quilts created a super cool free mini quilt pattern called Moon Bloom that you can find here. If you're not big on FPP or Curves, this Vintage Lace pattern by Lo and Behold Stitchery gives off some beautiful outer-space vibes when made with a dark background and light HST's. And are you familiar with Karen Nyberg? A Space X astronaut who quilted in space! Read here story here.โ I don't consider myself a big "space nerd" ๐ and so wasn't following the launch of the Artemis II project too closely. But as more and more people shared the stories and quotes from that wonderful crew, not to mention the unreal images that they shared, I was totally sucked in! And inspired! ๐ฅฒ I was most touched by their deep reflections created by such a unique perspective on the world - literally looking at our planet from the farthest vantage point of any human beings in history - and being able to not only "see the big picture" but also express their experience so articulately. A lot of those thoughts were summed up in this statement from one of the crew members, Jeremy Hansen: "The purpose of humanity is joy and lifting one another up, creating together versus destroying." Amen, brother. It was a heartening to watch articulate, creative, smart, and kind humans inspire people around the world. ๐ See you next week. xo, AmyIf you would like to stop receiving this content, please click unsubscribe below. โVisit my Pattern Shop Hereโ |
