Repurposing Tips for Quilters + Mother's Day Gift Ideas

Hello friends! I hope this email finds you well.

Ideas for Making-Do, Using Scraps, and Repurposing Notions & Supplies

Quilters are some of the best "repurposers" I can think of. I don't think that's a real world but you know what I mean. We're great at seeing the potential in a pile of scraps, or making sentimental gifts from a cast-off item. We've been doing it for generations!

In honor of Earth Day this week, I put together a list of some of my favorite ideas for getting the most mileage out of our fabric and projects, repurposing items to create handy notions or meaningful gifts, and places to find useable products second hand.

New Gift Ideas to Make or Buy for Mother's Day

Mother's Day is only a few weeks out and I've updated my list of some really fun to quilt-y themed products and tutorials ideas, perfect to make or buy as a great gift for your favorite women in your life.

The list includes free tutorials for bags, a stadium cushion as well as cute quilt-y gifts for your favorite mom who quilts. (This can also include you! ๐Ÿ˜‰)

How to Choose the Perfect Sewing Machine

Speaking of gifts - if your mom or daughter or YOU are looking for the perfect sewing machine this year, I've got a list of sewing machine recommendations for every budget or skill level.

Whether you're looking for the perfect entry level, beginner machine, or a second machine that's easily portable for travel, or you're ready to upgrade your current machine for a fancier model, I've got advice for all of the above.

Even if you're not looking to get a new machine right away, you might want to pin this post for future reference.

And if you are feeling more proactive about buying a machine, upcoming Mother's Day sales could be a great time to get a deal.

Fun Finds on the Web: Ideas for using scraps!

Joz from Quilt as You Go has a free tutorial for this darling quilted apron made using scraps and a quilt-as-you-go technique. (Would also make a fun Mother's Day gift!)

Lisa Donelly of Wild Plum Lane has a free scrap-buster quilt pattern called Scrappy Stamps.โ€‹

Lindsay of Pen and Paper Patterns has some really cute freebie quit blocks on her site! I still want to make a few of those mini sparrows.

Welp, it's been a week.

Highs and lows - both in spring temperatures/weather - and a lot of regular life too.

Right now I'm working on how to find balance and level footing.

Sometimes when I'm trying to navigate big life events and milestones - or supporting loved ones going through them.

Sometimes it's just guessing what jacket to take with me for the day. โ˜”โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒฆ๏ธ

May we all weather the uncertainty around us as best we can. ๐Ÿ˜…

Hang in there everyone and have a great week! Hope you get some stitching time in too.

And as always, thanks SO much for stopping by.

xo,

Amy
