My #1 Quilting Tip + Red & White Quilt InspirationHello Friends! I hope this week's edition finds you well. This week I'm sharing the latest installment of What's On My Sewing Table. This is a monthly post to share what I'm working on as well as self-accountability and transparency about my creative process. Also, proof that that nothing around here is done over night (as in, I'm not superhuman.) I decided to add 2 additional things to the What's on my Sewing Table accountability report each month: How much Fabric Did I Buy and Something That I Organized this month. My #1 Quilting Tip!This tip has come up recently as an important part of the Scandi Hearts Quilt Along, and I thought I'd share it again here too. This simple tip will help with all of your quilt piecing - especially complicated or intricate quilt blocks. I’m sure you all know the necessity of a consistent 1/4” seam allowance in quilting, but are you familiar with a Scant 1/4” Seam Allowance? This simple trick will make a huge difference. And it’s SO much easier to make this adjustment than you might think! And there are lots of ways to make it happen. Click below to read about a scant 1/4” seam allowance and how this simple trick will make all of the difference in your piecing!

Fun Finds on the Web - Creative ways to fill Winter daysI'm still smitten with this modern take on a traditional Lone Star quilt made with half square triangles. It's so simple and and makes such a beautiful, graphic statement. It's on my "To-make" list! Click below to get the free pattern from Lindlee of Plains and Pines.
Have you seen Minki Kim's YouTube channel? It is full of delightful projects and video tutorials including bags, fabric baskets, and these cute pincushions. I love these scrappy heart zipper pouches - pattern available in 3 sizes! Amy Chappell shared the cutest quilted heart garland free tutorial on her YouTube channel. It's the PERFECT way to use up scraps too! Elizabeth from Quilter's Candy has a fun tutorial for simple quilted coasters with a contemporary vibe. A quick and easy project and great ways to use up scraps. The Idea Room has a super simple Heart String Art project idea - it's perfect for teaching kids to sew and keeping them busy on inside January days as well! I'm heading put to an afternoon basketball game date with my husband today, so a shorter note at the end of this week's newsletter. I hope that you're surviving what can often feel like "the January blahs". It continues to feel like the least January-est January ever here where I live. I'm actually really missing the snow - I haven't shoveled snow once this winter- which is so bizarre. And I haven't been on a single snow-hike. While I don't love the shoveling part of winter, I'm very much missing the hikes. It's something I look forward to every winter. It's been a huge bummer. (And also worrisome for our water situation this summer.) On the other hand, I know that many of you across the US (two of my own kids included) are facing a scary ice storm this weekend. As this ice storm rolls in, I just want to send a quick note to say I’m thinking about you and praying for safety and protection—for your home, your travels, and your loved ones. I hope you can stay in and sew, but also check on a neighbor who might need a hand, or even just a friendly text. I'm super grateful for people who are looking out for my kids on the east coast. And for anyone feeling especially unsettled or vulnerable right now, I hope you feel covered with warmth, calm, and the kind of community that stays close until things thaw. ❤️❤️❤️ As always, thanks a million for stopping by.
