My πŸ’˜'s Quilt + 2026 Free Quilt Block Challenge

My πŸ’˜'s Quilt + 2026 Free Quilt Block Challenge

Hello friends! Happy Valentine's Day. I hope this finds you well.

First of all, oh my goodness - thank you all for the response to last week's email! So much action all at once temporarily crashed my website. All is restored, but if you weren't able to access the posts from last week's email they are working! It looks like the Fast Method for Perfect Borders was the biggest hit. Thanks so much!

And now, here's what's new around these parts:

This week we wrapped up the Scandi Hearts Quilt Along. and I finished my Valentine's version just in time!

Click below to read more about the fabric choices, quilting design and all of the rest of the details in my latest blog post.

I'm Sewing Along with the Fat Quarter Shop Sewcialites

Sewcialites 3 is officially on the way, and I’m so excited to share that I’m one of the 25 designers contributing a block to this year’s sew along hosted by Fat Quarter Shop! πŸŽ‰ If you love the idea of sewing one fun block at a time (with a whole community cheering you on), this is such a great one to join.

Each week a new free block pattern is released, and you can choose your favorite sizeβ€”3", 6", or 9"β€”depending on how tiny (or speedy!) you want your piecing to be. I’ll share the link to all the details below, and I can’t wait to sew along with you!

Speaking of the Fat Quarter Shop - they are having a fun Valentine's πŸ’˜ Day Sale this weekend! So if you didn't get what you were hoping to get for Valentine's, this is a sweet chance to treat yo'self. πŸ˜‰

A few of my favorite things marked down include:

Favorite Guest Posts from the vault: Using Acrylic Stencils to Simplify Quilting on your Home Machine

For anyone else out there like me who feels too intimidated to do any kind of quilting on your home machine other than straight lines, have I got a great tool to share with you!

Last Fall I met Melodie Harding and she showed me her clever and durable stencils for machine quilting. ANYONE can use them. And they're 20% off for my readers! Click below to meet Melodie and this super helpful tool for finishing your quilts at home!

Fun Finds on the Web:

Embellishing clothing with upcylcled quilt blocks is a hot trend right now. Melissa of the Polkadot Chair shared a cute raw-edge variation here.

If you're going to QuiltCon this is a quick way to something 'handmade' to wear if you're running short on time. I made one for QuiltCon last year.

Ever been confused about what is the best eraseable pen to mark your quilts? πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈ Hailey of Hailey Stitches tested 38 quilt marking tools so that you don't have to! She shared the results on her YouTube channel.

For EVERYONE in the Northern Hemisphere: Congratulations on making it through the 12 darkest weeks of the year. We did it! πŸ˜…

Anyone else out there enjoying the Olympics? I don’t know what it is about the Olympics, but they get me every time. I love the drama and the joy (and yes, the occasional happy tears πŸ˜…) watching people who have worked for years show up for a few unforgettable minutes. It’s inspiring in the best way: talent + grit + teamwork + a whole lot of heart.

And it's not just the elite athletes that are inspiring - I love the human interest stories of athletes around the world including the Italian woman who won the gold for her home country in the Super G after only a horrible accident and only returning to the slopes 3 weeks ago. Or the first ever Mexican woman to compete in Cross Country - she finished last by the competitors were waiting at the finish line to cheer for her! And the gold medal mom unphased getting interviewed with a toddler on her hip. The most "Go Moms!" moment ever. πŸ˜‚

But my favorite part might be the reminder that we live in this beautifully diverse world. Different languages, traditions, uniforms, music, flags, and stories - all sharing the same stage. It makes me want to be a better learner and a better neighbor: curious, appreciative, and willing to celebrate what makes each culture unique. In a world that can feel pretty divided, it’s such a sweet, hopeful picture of what’s possible when we cheer for each other.

As always, thank you SO much for stopping by.

Hang in there, friends, and see you next week!

xo,

Amy
